First screening by our new Student Film Club: Beyond the Screen, which organize a themed movie night once a month. Tickets €8,50, one drink included.

We are Beyond the Screen, a new film club led by students! Once a month we organize a themed movie night in Focus, (the theme being related to the awareness month). Our very first screening will be on the 25th of February.

Since February is Black History Month in the US, the drama Judas and the Black Messiah really stood out to us as the movie to pick for this topic. Before the screening we’ll give a short introduction about the film and how it is connected to our theme. Afterwards there will be a drink and an opportunity to discuss and talk about the film with fellow enthusiasts!

For any fans of political thrillers, biographical stories or those who are just in for a movie filled with dramatic and amazing acting, Judas and the Black Messiah is the tale for you.

Judas and the Black Messiah

The true story of the assassinated Black Panther leader Fred Hampton is brought to vibrant life with never-better performances from Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield, in a fiercely watchable and passionately performed drama from the director Shaka King. Fred Hampton was cold-bloodedly shot at home during a raid by the FBI in 1969, at the age of 21. The Bureau had been given inside information about the layout of his apartment by their snitch: Hampton’s trusted security chief William O’Neal, a former petty criminal who had been arrested and “turned” by the FBI and  instructed to rise up through the Black Panther ranks. Both actors are magnificent in this incredible, gripping drama that’s emotional, devastating and relevant.
