'He has made a masterpiece: a great film, and a great work of art.'
Cannes Film FestivalAn impressive and exceptional war drama unlike anything we’ve seen before. Director Jonathan Glazer (Under the Skin) depicts the banality of evil.
Camp commander Rudolf Höss (Christian Friedel) lives with his family in a beautiful, spacious official residence with a large garden, next to the wall of Auschwitz. His wife Hedwig (Sandra Hüller) feels like a queen. She creates a paradise for her family, and is determined not to let it be taken away from her.
The Zone of Interest was awarded the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival and is the UK’s Oscar submission for Best International Film. Glazer loosely based it on the eponymous book by Martin Amis.
