Jagna, a free-spirited farmer girl, has to marry the older and richer farmer Boryna, even though she is in love with his son Antek.
Her life becomes more and more a battle for independance and Jagna has to face disapproval, gossip and jealousy that comes with a patriarchal village.
This film, made by the creators of Loving Vincent, is an adaptation of the Nobel Prize winning novel ‘Chopli’. The film is based on paintings from the Young Poland period, which perfectly reflect the atmosphere of the novel.
