Open-hearted, fully animated fleeing story of a single minor. Unique in the history of the Oscars: Flee is the first ever film that is nominated for best animation, best international film and best documentary.
The homosexual Amin has never told anybody about what has happened to him during his escape from Aghanistan to Denmark in the 80s. Too painful and too dangerous for his family. Director Jonas Poher Rasmussen convinced his old schoolfriend to tell his story anyways, with the promise he can stay anonymus. Rasmussen recontructs the fleeing story in impressive and hand-drawn 2D animations. Not only is it a horrifying story, but it is also a very personal tale about the remaining psychological traces that have been left behind from a life as a second class citizen.
