The Hollywood ReporterRemo Manfredini was once a legendary jockey, but his self-destructive behavior led him astray. Now he races primarily to pay off his enormous debts to a criminal gang led by the shady mafia boss Sirena.
During the most important race of his life, things go wrong: Remo causes a tragic accident that kills one of his most prized horses. He himself is seriously injured. After waking up in the hospital, he flees. With his head still bandaged, he assumes a new identity and roams the streets of Buenos Aires, fleeing from Sirena.
With its absurdist humor and sharp contrasts, El Jockey is reminiscent of the style of Wes Anderson, Yorgos Lanthimos and Aki Kaurismäki.
