BLACK TO TECHNO

Black to Techno is een korte muziekdocumentaire van kunstenaar Jenn Nkiru waarin zij de antropologische, sociaal-economische, geopolitieke wortels van techno uit Detroit in kaart brengt, hoe techno vervolgens de wereld over ging en zelfs tot soundtrack van de val van de Berlijnse muur werd.

[ENGLISH] Black to Techno is a music documentary by artist Jenn Nkiru who charts the anthropological, socio-economical, geopolitical roots of techno from Detroit and how it travelled and translated into becoming the soundtrack to the fall of the wall in Berlin.

Jenn Nkiru maakt ook deel uit van het internationale kunstenaarscollectief The Ummah Chroma wiens eerste film dit is. Deze film zoomt in op de kosmische reis van de heilige jeugd, waarin pijn, plezier en sublimatie niet bespreekbaar zijn. The Ummah Chroma bestaat naast Jenn Nkiru ook uit Terence Nance, Marc Thomas, Kamasi Washington, Bradford Young, met Lauri Faggioni en Erin Wile.

In het kader van de internationale kunstmanifestatie Sonsbeek 20 – 24 vertoont Focus in juli en augustus 2021 een filmprogramma waarin muziek de rode draad vormt.
