For this December screening of ‘Beyond the Screen’, we wanted a movie that fully captured both the nostalgic and melancholic side of the upcoming winter holidays. And The Holdovers, directed by Alexander Payne and written by David Hemingson, fits both those vibes like a wool glove.

With newcomer Dominic Sessa and experienced actor Paul Giamatti portraying two characters in very different stages of their life, who have more in common than they might think, and the amazing Da’Vine Joy Randolph, who won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as Mary Lamb, this bittersweet gem is the perfect preparation to get into a real holiday spirit.
