Special screening by our new Student Film Club: Beyond the Screen, which organizes a themed movie night once a month. Tickets €8,50, one drink included.

‘Moonlight, directed by Barry Jenkins, won the Oscar for ‘Best Picture’ in 2017. And, according to us at Beyond the Screen, rightfully so.

With its incredible acting, powerful and subtle storytelling, breathtaking visuals and moving soundtrack, it is hard to look away from the screen. This movie takes its genre, a coming-of-age drama, very seriously. We follow our main character as he moves through three important stages of his life, finding and hiding new parts of himself along the way. Moonlight really makes you feel those growing pains, and lets you sit in it.

So if you’re ready to sit in awe, re-experience the whiplash of getting older, or if you’re just wanting to watch a masterpiece of a movie, please join us for our fourth official screening!’

Moonlight

A timeless story of human connection and self-discovery, Moonlight chronicles the life of a young black man from childhood to adulthood as he struggles to find his place in the world while growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami. At once a vital portrait of contemporary African-American life and an intensely personal and poetic meditation on identity, family, friendship, and love, Moonlight is a groundbreaking piece of cinema that reverberates with deep compassion and universal truths. Anchored by extraordinary performances from a tremendous ensemble cast, Barry Jenkins’s staggering, singular vision is profoundly moving in its portrayal of the moments, people, and unknowable forces that shape our lives and make us who we are.
