50 Years of Focus
On Friday, December 15, 2023, we celebrated Focus’s 50th anniversary. This anniversary celebration kicked off a year of festive events.
Word artist Tim Lenders spoke these beautiful words during the festive kickoff of our anniversary year last Friday evening. Together with you, we reminisced, discussed the current film landscape, and looked ahead. We also enjoyed short celebratory films on the rooftop, promising previews, ’70s horror, movie song karaoke, the (“slightly” faded but still amazing) classic De geest van de bijenkorf on 35mm, and danced in a theater without bleachers at the preview screening of the legendary concert film Stop Making Sense.
Here’s to 50 years of Focus, 50 years of love for film, and 50 years of the most amazing audience we could ever wish for! Thanks to everyone who was there, it was a real treat to toast, chat, enjoy, discuss, and sing with you all. We’re looking forward to the next 50 years!
