Peter Hujar’s Day by Ira Sachs is a meticulous reconstruction of an actual conversation between photographer Peter Hujar (Ben Wishaw) and writer Linda Rosenkrantz in 1974.

In her New York apartment, writer Linda welcomes photographer Peter Hujar. Over the course of the day, a conversation develops about the art world and the personal struggles that come with being an artist. Hujar shares his desire to truly be seen and the fear that this may never happen. As they both reflect on art, intimacy, and mortality, a portrait unfolds of a time when downtown New York was buzzing with radical creativity.
