Hamnet tells the powerful love story that inspired Shakespeare’s timeless masterpiece, Hamlet. Featuring Jessie Buckley (Wicked Little Letters, The Lost Daughter) and Paul Mescal (All of Us Strangers, Aftersun)

In Hamnet, the plague rages in a small village in 16th-century England, where Agnes, a healer, and Will, a writer, live. Their life revolves around their three children – Susanna and the twins Judith and Hamnet – until an unimaginable loss strikes them. Agnes’ grief and Will’s struggle with words slowly find their way into art. Thus unfolds the enchanting and moving origin of one of Shakespeare’s greatest works. A film about love, loss, and the power of imagination.

This film by Chloé Zhao (Nomadland) is based on a screenplay written by Zhao and Maggie O’Farrell and is based on O’Farrell’s 2020 novel of the same name.
