Mickey 17
Bong Joon Ho, the writer-director who won several Oscars for Parasite, is now releasing his next groundbreaking film: Mickey 17. The unlikely hero Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) has a very unusual job. His employer demands the ultimate dedication from him: he must die for his salary.
Mickey is, in fact, an “expendable” who is sent on dangerous missions during expeditions to the icy planet Niflheim. When he dies, he is simply cloned with all his memories intact—until things go wrong. After a fatal mission, Mickey discovers that his replacement, Mickey 18, has already been activated. This leads to a surprising and philosophical battle between two versions of himself.
Featuring a star-studded cast including Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo, Mickey 17 is a visual spectacle and an intriguing blend of science fiction and dark comedy, showcasing Bong Joon-ho’s signature style. Based on the novel Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton.

This film is part of the science fiction film series (2)026: A Space Odyssey, produced in collaboration with CASA, in which architecture and spatial design play a prominent role. The session will be introduced by Miranda Nieboer, who conducts research in Antarctica on architecture under extreme conditions.
