Jeanne willingly chose to live without children. However this gets disturbed when her estranged sister Suzanne arrives unexpectedly with her two young children.
At first glance it looks like Suzanne is trying to reconnect with her sister, but the next morning she appears to have left without an explanation and without her kids. Jeanne stays behind to care for the children and is forced to face the emotional and practical consequences of the disappearance of her sister, just like the life she thought she had definitely left behind.
