La vie d’une femme

Charline Bourgeois-Tacquet | 98 minutes | language: French

Gabrielle, 55, throws herself into her work with heart and soul. As a surgeon and head of department at the hospital, she’s constantly busy, under the pressure of the huge responsibility on her shoulders.

There’s little time left for her private life: a loving husband and a mother who depends on her care. Still, this is the life she wanted, the life she chose for herself. When a novelist comes to observe her at work for a book, her balance starts to falter. How far is she willing to go to break free from what she has built?

La vie d’une femme is a contemporary, nuanced, moving, and richly layered portrait of a woman in her fifties. Selected for the main competition at Cannes.
