Looking for inspiration for her new novel, writer Sylvie (Isabelle Huppert) spies on her neighbors. When she hires the young Adam as a personal assistant, her stories unexpectedly start taking on a life of their own. Soon, the line between fiction and reality begins to blur, until they are barely distinguishable from each other.
Histoires Parallèles premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. For the film, Farhadi found inspiration in Kieślowski, especially A Short Film About Love from the Decalogue, in which a voyeur becomes obsessed with his neighbor.
