Go Short 2026: Shorts in collaboration with Verre Binding
The Verre Binding Film Council is proud to present a special selection of films for Go Short Arnhem. With five short films from the Netherlands, Congo, Switzerland, and Belgium, the film council has put together a diverse program, full of stories about hope, love, and the longing for a home.
About the Verre Binding Film Council
The Verre Binding Film Council consists of Arnhem residents—both local and from afar—who share a love of film. Together, they select films from different parts of the world: stories that surprise, move, and invite viewers to look at the world and one another with a broader perspective.
The films are free to attend for COA pass holders and Ukrainians with temporary protected status.

My Homeland
Tabarak Abbas, Switzerland, 13 min
Baghdad, early 1990s: In a world where humans have made way for cyborgs, a young couple and their newborn baby try to flee their country, where war has just broken out. This animated film tells a true story and immerses viewers in a futuristic world.
Voice Messages from My Mom
Elinice Adeyemi, Netherlands, 15 min
Inspired by Chantal Akerman’s “News From Home,” this intimate short film follows a Nigerian student in the Netherlands who receives a series of voice messages from her mother via WhatsApp. Through these messages, a tender yet tense portrait of love, sacrifice, and distance unfolds.
Zombies

A journey between hope and dystopia in a hallucinatory Kinshasa: *Zombie* takes us from the culture of the “kapsalon” to a futuristic club scene, from the urban parade to the glory of a dictator on the campaign trail, and on to a modern Western. And it challenges the almost carnal relationship we have with our phones—extensions of the hand that grant us the ability to be digitally omnipresent…
