Andrey Zvyagintsev | France, Letland, Germany 2026 | 142 minutes | language: Russian | subtitles: English
After nearly ten years, Andrey Zvyagintsev returns with Minotaur, a poignant drama inspired by Claude Chabrol’s 1969 film La Femme infidèle (The Unfaithful Wife).
The film follows businessman Gleb, who is pressured in a Russian city to recruit workers for the army, while at the same time discovering that his wife is having an affair. The personal conflict evolves into a broader reflection on the impact of war and power on everyday life. With its mythical references to the Minotaur, powerful imagery, and the haunting score by Evgueni and Sacha Galperine, Zvyagintsev delivers a compelling film about guilt, choices, and human vulnerability.
