Toutes directions is director Noël Loozen’s absurdist feature film debut about a laid-off taxi driver who embarks on a spontaneous road trip. Closing film of the 2026 Netherlands Film Festival.
Every morning, 71-year-old regional taxi driver Sjef takes the same route through South Limburg. He picks up his regular passengers, who depend on his rickety minibus for their appointments and their fragile connection to the outside world. They give his days rhythm, a sense of connection, and meaning—just as he does for them.
When Sjef is fired effective immediately and has to turn in his keys and the van, he picks up his passengers one last time. At the intersection where he normally turns right, he steps on the gas and drives straight ahead. What follows is an unplanned, sometimes dangerous journey, during which his elderly and frail passengers prove surprisingly resilient. Industrial landscapes slowly give way to sweeping vistas, while the group grows smaller and smaller along the way. What starts as an impulsive decision turns into a journey that stirs something in everyone—and gives Sjef the courage to start the rest of his life.
