Oregon, 1933. After his wife’s death, Samuel Murphy ends up in a labor camp run by the ruthless overseer Clancy. Determined to regain his freedom and be reunited with his daughter, Murphy is given one chance to change his fate: to smuggle a heavy load of gold through the unforgiving wilderness.
Together with his men, he embarks on a heart-pounding journey along raging rivers, treacherous rope bridges, and the unforgiving wilderness. But within the group, the possibility of betrayal also simmers, and Murphy must ask himself how far he will go to ever see his daughter again.
This gripping historical drama-thriller, The Weight, is directed by Padraic McKinley and stars Ethan Hawke, Russell Crowe, and Julia Jones in the lead roles. The film premiered at the Sundance and Berlin film festivals.
