The Beloved
The acclaimed film director Esteban Martínez (Javier Bardem) is a legend, both because of his impressive body of work and his notorious past full of drinking, violence, and excess. When he returns to Spain after thirteen years away to shoot his new film, he unexpectedly offers the lead role to his estranged daughter Emilia, an actress whose career has been struggling to take off. What initially seems like a chance for reconciliation quickly turns into an emotional minefield. As father and daughter work together on the film set, the lines between fiction and reality blur, and old wounds inevitably resurface.
