Princess Odette is cursed: the evil sorcerer Von Rothbart has turned her into a swan. The spell can only be broken by a vow of eternal love. When she meets Prince Siegfried, he is instantly enchanted by her fragile beauty and promises to set her free. However, Odette’s freedom is not assured, as Von Rothbart hatches a plot to thwart the lovers’ plans.
Liam Scarlett’s production for The Royal Ballet combines Tchaikovsky’s majestic music with John Macfarlane’s picturesque designs to create a timeless ballet spectacle about love, betrayal, and forgiveness.
