Queen at Sea

Amanda’s mother Leslie’s advanced dementia is driving Amanda and her stepfather Martin further and further apart. As Leslie becomes less and less able to make decisions for herself, the question arises: who has the right—and the responsibility—to make decisions about her life? Her husband, her daughter, or an institution?
As Amanda and Martin each try, based on their own convictions, to do what’s best for Leslie, they become increasingly entangled in a painful conflict over love, care, and autonomy. Their choices have far-reaching consequences and force them to reflect not only on what is best for Leslie, but also on the limits of their own responsibility.
