In search of herself and in an attempt to free herself from her suffocating family, 15-year-old Suzanne (Sandrine Bonnaire’s acclaimed debut) sets out in search of love and affection. She finds these in her many relationships with men, but giving true love proves difficult. When her father—the only person for whom she harbors warm feelings—leaves the family, she is left behind with her cold mother and tyrannical brother. À nos amours is a raw, unsentimental, and down-to-earth portrait of a lonely teenager struggling with herself and her surroundings. The film, in which director Maurice Pialat himself plays the father, was nominated for a Golden Bear and won two Césars.
