Astronaut, forest ranger, cartoonist. Young Rakel has a lot of other plans besides becoming a mother. She would rather party, get drunk or stoned instead of sitting on the toilet for hours. But she can’t ignore it. Will she choose for herself or her baby?

23-year-old Rakel enjoys her carefree life and lives with a friend. She draws comic books, likes to party, drink and do drugs, and has regular one-night stands. At her roommate’s insistence, Rakel takes a pregnancy test and is found to be 6 months pregnant by a dabbler, while she has just started dating the judo teacher. Becoming a mother was not on Rakel’s bucket list and since abortion is no longer an option, she has to start choosing between her old familiar life and the Ninjababy she renamed, who begins to torment her more and more as he comes to life in her imagination.

Ninjababy is a funny and unpolished Norwegian drama from director Yngvild Sve Flikke. The film is based on the graphic novel Fallteknik (Falling Technique) by Inga H. Saetre, who created animations for the film making Ninjababy a comic side character.
